Since 1850 Clabber Girl has been a family-owned business, building our company around our expertise in chemical leaveners. Through our efforts we became America’s number one retail brand of baking powder. Today, we are so much more than baking powder. We produce cookie mixes, puddings and pie fillings, gelatins and now encapsulated leaveners.

Encapsulation is a process of coating or protecting an active ingredient so that it is stabilized until a desired release time, when the coating dissolves. We use several different coatings that are insoluble in water. This protects the ingredient so that it only reacts at high temperatures, when the coating dissolves and leavening is released.

All bakery manufacturing processes are unique and require leavening dispersed at different stages. That is where encapsulation becomes most valuable.
